ABOUT US

The Friends of the Academy is a group of like-minded people who love the arts and see great value in supporting students at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) to become the stars of tomorrow.
The Friends support WAAPA students by attending performances, distributing financial grants, and providing opportunities for students to interact with their audiences. The organisation has been in existence for 35 years.
Financial grants are provided mainly to supplement travel and accommodation expenses for final year students undertaking compulsory work experience secondments within Australia and overseas.
An active Committee manages the allocation of grants to all students, ensuring compliance with the Rules of the Friends of the Academy Incorporated. After each Friends Event and Q&A, the cast and membership are invited to supper. The Committee also hosts tours of the Academy and provides morning tea for the participants.
